“When will transformation begin? It starts at the moment you decide to change. That’s why it’s so vital for you to stop for a moment and come face to face with one aspect of your life that needs drastic action immediately.” ~ Neil Eskelin

Every one of us has an area or two that “needs drastic action immediately.”

To… forgive someone, or yourself

    …choose to be happy

    …manage distractions

    …repair a relationship

    …find a new perspective

    …look for a new job

    …quit smoking

    …lose weight/start exercising

    …declutter

    …stop swearing

    …discover what brings you joy

    …manage stress

It is very easy to either live in denial about what needs to be done or to put it off until we imagine it will be easier to tackle another time.

However, these unresolved issues become heavy weights we burden ourselves with when we carry them around from day to day in the back of our minds.

What would it be like to literally stop what you are doing right now and do a couple minutes of soul-searching?

What is it in your life that needs drastic action? Choose just one aspect. Name it. Face it.  Block out mental attitudes that shame you for not acting sooner. Embrace the concept of making a lasting change for the better. Refrain from letting your mind ask “how” to bring about transformation.  Simply face your obstacle without judgment.

Next, befriend the courageous self, the part of you that will make the needed change or difference, and let it take the lead. Step out of the way of yourself. If you have ever been able to do so, you know exactly what this statement means. No one, or anything, gets in our way as well as we do.

I was recently reminded some things in life are difficult to do for ourselves.  (Just try to tickle yourself.) This is where coaching comes in. On your way to achieving the change you are working toward; a coach draws out the voice of your courageous self.

In taking these steps toward transformation know that “Nothing splendid has ever been achieved except by those who dared believe that something inside them was superior to circumstance.” (Bruce Barton.) Then, it all begins with that moment of decision to change.
